'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting dying seconds of Swansea's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles following the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful shot from 25 yards, and Cameron Burgess immediately slammed home the deflection before charging toward the home end to celebrate, with fans swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory capped an extraordinary comeback given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the second half. During the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory secured a fourth-round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in spectacular fashion, with a teammate's first-time shot from about way out going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that range," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right wing-back after Orient changed shape. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way the underdogs attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just do it over and over again," Galbraith says. "It feels like they never miss a pass and they understand how to control and neutralize a game. You can think you're all right and then without warning they will just thread a ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It takes a strong mentality and attention just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a popular figure across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has swiftly done the same in south Wales. At his previous team he reunited with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a spell at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without serious challenge. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that development for his team and nation, performing well for his national side, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has started the last several matches, including two matches fixtures against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

This marks a remarkable path for the kid from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his father, his father, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's sole appearance for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to conditions of -15C. "That proved to be a long trip and it was cold out there," he recalls, chuckling. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

How difficult was it to leave United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "It was fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I understood I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it got to the point where I believed I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm gradually working my way back up."

New Environment

It is mid-afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at late afternoon: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's so-called player transport, a small coach driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to socialize with the lads but I'm planning to be the next one to drive independently and driving. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with followers on the Tube after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
